No. KansasUltrarunningHistory.org is the broader historical project. KansasUltrarunners.com is the people-focused supporting registry.
Who qualifies as a Kansas ultrarunner?
The registry is designed to recognize more than one type of Kansas connection rather than using birthplace as the only gate.
What does Kansas-born mean?
Kansas-born means the runner was born within the state of Kansas.
What does Kansas-based mean?
Kansas-based means the runner lived in Kansas during a meaningful portion of their ultrarunning career.
What does Kansas-connected mean?
Kansas-connected means the runner has a substantial documented relationship to Kansas ultrarunning through participation, performance, history, contribution, or another meaningful connection.
Can a runner have more than one affiliation label?
Potentially, yes. For example, a runner could be both Kansas-born and Kansas-based.
What is the difference between affiliation and verification?
Affiliation describes the runner’s relationship to Kansas. Verification describes the evidence supporting a specific claim.
What does documented mean?
Documented means a claim is supported by a reliable source such as published race results, historical records, authorized datasets, or other credible evidence.
What does independently verified mean?
Independently verified means a qualifying fact has been confirmed through a third-party verification process rather than being accepted only from a self-submission or secondary source.
Will runners have to submit birth certificates?
No runner should send a birth certificate directly to Kansas Ultrarunners. If a Kansas-born verification program is launched, the intended model is third-party verification that returns only the minimum result needed.
Has a third-party verification provider already been selected?
No. A provider and formal workflow have not yet been selected.
How will the database be populated initially?
The project expects to begin with authorized historical race-result data and other reliable ultrarunning sources, then improve and classify profiles over time.
Will data be imported from Ultrarunning Magazine or UltraSignup?
Those are possible future data sources if authorized access or a permitted data export is obtained. No specific partnership or data transfer should be assumed until it is actually arranged.
Can runners claim or correct their profiles?
That functionality is planned as a future direction. A formal claim or correction workflow has not yet been launched.
Can someone nominate a runner for inclusion?
A nomination process may be added later. Until then, the site should not be treated as having an active submission workflow.
Will historical runners be included?
Yes. The project is intended to document both current and historical runners when reliable information can be established.
Does someone have to be born in Kansas to appear?
No. Birthplace is only one form of Kansas affiliation.
Does someone have to currently live in Kansas to appear?
No. A runner may qualify through Kansas-born, Kansas-based, or Kansas-connected status depending on the documented facts.
